About this workshop

Building the foundation of airway control. This comprehensive workshop is designed to take you from the fundamental maneuvers of manual ventilation to the precision required for successful endotracheal intubation. It is the essential starting point for any clinician aiming for proficiency in the Emergency Department or ICU, focusing on a clear, reproducible approach to primary airway control.

The session starts with the “basics that save lives”: perfecting the Bag-Valve Mask (BVM) technique, positional maneuvers, and the correct selection of Oropharyngeal (OPA) and Nasopharyngeal (NPA) airways. Once the foundation of oxygenation is secured, the workshop transitions to Endotracheal Intubation. Participants will receive hands-on training in both Direct Laryngoscopy (DL) using standard Macintosh blades and Video Laryngoscopy (VL), learning the nuances of laryngeal visualization and successful tube placement.

Guided by experienced emergency physicians, you will practice on high-fidelity airway trainers in small, focused groups. We emphasize not just the manual skill of “getting the tube,” but the entire process of preparation, patient positioning, and confirmation of correct placement. By the end of this intensive session, you will have the skills and confidence to handle the standard airway and escalate care when necessary.
